About Us

Our Story
Established in 2005 as a dream of ours and the culmination of thoughts and visions from our travels and family history. The inn takes its name from the Twaalfskill Creek, a gently flowing creek at the edge of our property. The Dutch translation of Twaalfskill means twelve Stripe Bass Creek. Our Inn has been designed so discriminating guests can find the intimacy of an Inn and the luxuries todays traveler demands. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, only steps away from the Hudson Valley Rail Trail and Walkway over the Hudson. We are centrally located to all the abundant attractions of the Hudson Valley including FDR Estate, Vanderbilt Mansion, Culinary Institute of America, wineries, colleges, farm to table dining and more.
At The Inn at Twaalfskill, travelers are empowered to experience the heartfelt expressions of the innkeeper’s impeccable attention to exacting detail. Guests will feel welcome and pampered by our ultimate guest service.
The Inn was constructed in 1902 as the private home of Harcourt Pratt, a local businessman and representative in the United States Congress. The property was purchased in the 1950’s by our grandparents and remains in the family to the present day. In 2005, the building underwent major construction, modernizing all of the key building systems. At the same time the inn was given a cosmetic overhaul with special attention paid to retaining the amazing original architectural details. Attentively decorated in rich, warm style, interiors evoke European and French County influence. The building has been meticulously maintained and admired for its elegant exterior, meticulous grounds and gracious public spaces.
Our inn reflects the years of experience in the travel industry and knowledge of the Hudson Valley as we aspire to become your ultimate Hudson Valley destination.
